“MY MOTTO” “If you have done your best If you have given your all And yet have not succeeded At least you have not failed” Micaela Perez (Mickey) Dally, Born 11/26/1920 at Santa Fe Springs, CA, was 98 when she passed away on 05/23/2019 at her home in Santa Barbara, California She was the daughter of Paz D Perez & Domingo Perez, (both deceased). Other siblings are; Carmen Martinez, Mingo Perez, Minnie Uroste (d), Rufus Perez (d), Richard Perez (d), Eddie Perez (d), Frances Rodriquez (d) and Danny Perez (d). Mickey’s children are Gloria (Richard French, deceased) and JoAnn Dally who is married to Dennis Schwendtner. Her grandchildren are, Todd & Lisa French, her great grandchildren are Hunter French (Todd), Andrew. Makayla & Lily (Lisa). Micaela married Joseph “Toddy” Dally on 11/02/1939. Joe passed in 1994 while living in Santa Barbara. “Mickey” worked with children at Star King Nursery School with several families as a nanny & cook. “Mickey” also helped with her daughters education and was involved with the PTA and later helping them when they attended college. She was not of a higher education but she always would research subjects on her own as she loved reading & learning. She was an excellent cook and painter. “Mickey” loved the Asian culture learning Sum-e painting at SBCC, along with Chinese cooking featuring Chinese themed dinners at the home of Jean Crown. She loved her family, especially her two grandchildren, Todd & Lisa. In earlier years as a resident, she was the ‘Chairperson of Activities’, where she lived for over 36 years, Pilgrim Terrace Homes. While there, she developed deep relationships & often displayed her great sense of humor. She had a deep love for her Lord Jesus Christ along with her care giver, Ricarda Marquez who was her caregiver for over 21 years. Family & friends meant a great deal to her. She interpreted for Drs. Todd Kanen, Bowdre Carswell, Stanley Ostern & Michael Lanham, when necessary.. She received recognition from the Mayor for being an, “Original Resident of over 30 years at Pilgrim Terrace Homes. She explored different religions finding good in everyone. Jesus became her strength & comfort during her final days. Her motto is “We are all Gods Children”
