John Patrick McEvoy

John Patrick McEvoy Patrick McEvoy passed away peacefully at his home in Santa Barbara, California, at the age of 82 on August 13th, 2023. Patrick McEvoy was born in Huntington Park, California on April 18th, 1941. Born to John “Mac” McEvoy and his wife Elizabeth “Betty,” he was the first of five children. He is survived by his children, Colleen and Kevin, his brother Michael and his wife Stella, his brother Ron and his wife Tina, sister Joyce and her husband Jeff, sister Joan and her husband Chuck, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Lynda, his first wife and the mother of his children, and his ex-wife and life-partner Barbara. Pat grew up in Monterey Park and attended Loyola University before completing his law degree at Southwestern University. He moved his family to Santa Barbara in 1965 where he joined the law firm of Archbald, Zelezny and Spray as an associate attorney before becoming a partner. He later joined with his partners and friends who created their own firm, Bauer Harris & McEvoy, where he worked until his retirement. Patrick changed the course of his life by joining the AA program and received his 30-year sobriety medallion the year before he died. He was very committed to the program, and it was a great source of pride and passion for him. He maintained close friendships with his sponsor, Bruce and his sponsee, Rod. Patrick retired early and loved to travel the world and was passionate about his life-long hobby of stock trading. He enjoyed food and for a time he was quite an accomplished cook. He also enjoyed keeping up with world events and politics and was always ready and willing to share his opinion on the world as he saw it. He was adored by many and will be missed by all. He lived and died on HIS terms, and truly accomplished a life well-lived.
