Leonard G. Jarrott

Leonard G. Jarrott, a widower is survived by his 3 children, Leonard S. Jarrott, Valarie Cherot, and Daniel F. Jarrott, his spouse, 6 grandchildren and their spouses, and also 10 great grandchildren. Leonard was a person of integrity and of outstanding character. His undying love for his beloved wife Viola, family and friends was the most notable of all his attributes. However, he was certainly admired for his wit, intelligence and tremendous humor as well. Leonard was born in McKittrick, California and lived in Santa Barbara as a young child for a short period of time. He grew up in Redondo Beach, attended St. James Elementary School and in the 8th grade met his wife Viola. They were married for almost 70 years, and sweethearts for 7 years prior. His many accomplishments include a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Loyola University and a Master's Degree at California State Northridge. He worked as a Tax Auditor for the State of California. Leonard was a Triple Lifetime Master in Bridge and continued playing the game at the Santa Barbara Bridge Club as recently as several months ago. He was a successful businessman and had practiced a hands on approach to improving and maintaining his Real Estate investment properties. He traveled the world with Viola and other family members. He and his wife's generosity made it possible for 4 generations of family to travel together. Leonard was an avid sports fan. He loved following the Rams and the Dodgers and watched and attended their games for over 60 years. However above all, he loved Notre Dame University's football team, and became a fan when he was only 9 years old. He also loved to participate in a variety of athletic endeavors. Leonard first skied at Mammoth in 1948, and he and Viola continued enjoying the sport together for many year after. He played volleyball, boxed, body surfed, and during his retirement enjoyed golf. He and Viola were wonderful dancers and experienced many years of swing, cha cha, mambo, and ballroom dance. Leonard was a lovely man and will be missed by all that knew him. He practiced his Catholic faith in a manner that expressed love, compassion, and charity.
