Betty Rae Haskell

July 30, 1930 - January 7, 2016

Betty went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 7, 2015. She passed peacefully with her family by her side. Betty, 85, was born on July 30, 1930 in Loka, Utah. Born to William and Hazel Jenson, she was the youngest of eight children. Betty spent her young years on the Jenson family farm in Ioka, later moving to Myton, Utah. After graduating from High School, she attended Quish's Beauty School in Salt Lake City, where she became a beautician. Not long after graduating beauty school, she met the love of her life, Harry Haskell and they were married in 1950. They moved to Redondo Beach, California in 1951. After a few years, they relocated to Santa Barbara. They loved it so much they decided to stay and raise their children in this beautiful city by the ocean! Betty loved spending time with her family. Her husband and her four children were her greatest joy. She loved playing tricks and being just plain silly. She had such a caring heart and loved helping others. Anyone who knew Betty, knew this to be true. Teaching children was her gift. She was a teacher with Child Evangelism Fellowship and taught Good News Clubs in her home every week. She would have as many as 40 children sitting in her living room every week hearing Bible stories and learning Bible memory verses. She made it fun! She also taught Sunday school every Sunday morning. She loved going on camping trips with her family every summer, baking yummy desserts, cooking amazing meals, sewing outfits for her daughters, as well as crafting and being involved in church activities. She loved her animals and never let a stray pass through her door without giving it a forever home! She touched MANY hearts and lives. Her kindness and beautiful smile will always remain in our memories. Betty is survived by her husband Harry of 65 years, two sons, Lynn Haskell (Dian), Stan Haskell (Mendy), two daughters Karen Haskell and Cheryl Haskell Smith (Charles). Betty will also be missed by five grandsons, Jason Haskell, Cameron Haskell (Andrea), Wesley Haskell, Blake Yoder and Evan Yoder. She is preceded in death by one grand daughter, Miranda Yoder, as well as her seven siblings and her parents. A celebration of Betty's life will be held on Saturday, January 16th at 1 pm. at Grace Gathering, 400 Puente Drive, Santa Barbara, California. Lunch will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
