Carole Fayne Smith

January 24, 1936 - August 31, 2016

SMITH, Carole Fayne (Mc Henry) Carole Smith, cherished wife of Gene for 62 years and mother of Mark, Mike and Matthew, moved into the hands of our dear Lord and Savior on August 31 of 2016. She now shares His promise of life everlasting and a new body free from t e ravages of 16 years of Parkinson's Disease. Born in Los Angeles to Emily and Gus McHenry on January 24, 1936, she met Gene at age 12. Their romance grew until engagement on Christmas eve,1953. On May 29th, 1954 they married in Pasadena. A year later Gene was called into the Navy and upon discharge moved to Santa Barbara with their two week-old son Mark. He married Debi Larinan Smith and lives in Caldwell ID. They have one daughter, Diana. Two years after Mark, Mike arrived, who now lives in Shell Beach. He has a son Brandon of New York City and a daughter Tessa of Orange County. Lastly Matthew came along. He married Julie and lives in Folsom CA. They have a daughter and a son, Natalie and Jeffrey, both college students. Carole's life in Santa Barbara was filled with church activities and leadership, plus community affairs. She led youth groups, helped form a church orchestra, and formed a senior travel ministry which, for 20 years , served over 600 seniors by providing world-wide travel experiences. Before her retirement, she served as a local travel agent. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, warm, loving personality, and concern for others. In lieu of flowers please consider The Parkinson's Foundation and the Visiting Nurses and Hospice. The memorial service will be Saturday Oct 1st at 1 pm at Shoreline Community Church 935 San Andres St.
