Jose Ramon Gutierrez July 11, 1928- March 21, 2021 Jose Ramon Gutierrez of East Palo Alto, CA born to Maria Guadalupe and Jose Cruz Gutierrez, in Santa Barbara, CA has joined his beloved wife Erminia, his parents, his brother Rutillio, sisters Juanita(Jose) and Maria de la Luz(Juventino). Married for 49 years to the love of his life Erminia, they made a beautiful life together for their three daughters Elaine, Estela and Melinda. Taking them on their unforgettable camping trips and frequent drives down to Santa Barbara, to visit their families they loved so dearly. Ramon always had a running “Honey Do” list from Mina and who not better to help him but his daughters. Each had their own special bond with Ramon until the end. Elaine, his oldest, his dancing partner! Elaine would often visit Ramon in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico. It was their mission on these visits to find the best restaurants and taco stands. They would square dance and play endless games of cards with friends. Estela, his second, they shared their love for tradition, travel and for their pets. Ramon took many trips with Estela, Fausto and their family. From Mexico trips to visit Fausto’s family, to trips to Oregon, Santa Barbara and Colorado to visit Ramon’s siblings and their families. Estela shared Ramon’s last months with him, helping fulfill all of his cravings, needs and wants, ensuring he was happy and with family. Melinda, his youngest, whose deserts he could never get enough of. He would spend time with her and Don at their Georgetown home in the Mountains, enjoying the beautiful outdoors, the fresh air and the sounds of the forest. Ramon was their master landscaper, making any excuse to drive the giant lawn mower! The three of them share many countless moments with him and each other that will never be forgotten. Ramon a hardwood flooring expert, carpenter and locksmith by trade, working at the Palo Alto Unified School district for over 25 years, he was incredibly skilled at using his hands to craft beautiful projects, especially the beloved frames most of us have and treasure. Once retired, Ramon and Mina bought a beautiful beachfront property in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico, where they designed and built their retirement home. Using Mina’s designs and Ramon’s skills, they created a home with an unobscured view of the sunset, a fireplace master piece, but most importantly a place where they made treasured memories with each other, their family and friends. Ramon and Mina spent all of their free time with their grandchildren, from sick days, to sporting events, school recitals, the occasional sleepover and especially those unforgettable summer months in Rosarito. Alberto(Stephanie), Elisia, Brian(Monica), Erika, Eva(Julio), Estevan(Elsa), Jenaye, Marco, Charlene and Angela(DeVon) will have lasting memories of him they will cherish forever. Ramon lived on to share in the growing lives of his grandchildren and though the years flew by, in the blink of an eye, Ramon’s heart grew by twelve. With each great-grandchild, his heart exploded and he was over joyed by each of them. Cherishing their special memories of him, Dyanika, Brianna, Mateo, Gabriel, Estevan, Emma, Xavier, Leila, Jackson, Zayden and Santiago will live on with him in their hearts. Once known as Dad, Pops or Papi, Don Ramon, Grandpa, G-Pa and in the end Great Grandpa, each of them will think of him and smile, when music plays, movies are watched, Word Search puzzles completed and especially with every single bite of dessert. Ramon had a very special place in his heart for each of his siblings, finding ways to visit one another, talking often and sharing life’s moments with each other. He leaves his memory with Cruz(Norma†), Modesto(Darlene) and Esther(Henry). To the rest of the world, he was a man known for his unwavering love, his contagious smile and shining twinkle in his eye. He was the dancer of the party, the Charro of your dreams, the handyman and friend everyone needed. Everyone he met, shared a laugh with or heard a story about him, will forever hold a piece of his love. Jose Ramon Gutierrez, you will be dearly missed by all.
