Maria L. Parisotto

March 18, 1933 - July 25, 2017

Maria L. Parisotto passed away on July 25, 2017 in Santa Barbara; she was 84 years old. Maria was born the oldest of five children in Paderno del Grappa, Italia, on March 18, 1933, to Quinto and Silvia Reginato and raised in Spineda, a small village in the Province of Treviso. Her vivid memories of that time was playing with her pet lamb Tripoli and racing around the Italian streets on her Lambretta. She married Paul V. Parisotto in 1956 and emigrated to Santa Barbara in 1958. Besides raising her three children, Maria was very active in the Santa Barbara community: she was a long standing member of San Roque Parish, Young Ladies Institute, Italian Catholic Federation, and Sons of Italy; and knitting volunteer for the Interfaith SB Prayer Shawl Ministry. She worked for many decades altering Western apparel for Jedlicka's Saddlery. Maria, who enjoyed cooking for her children and grandchildren (especially her famous biscotti), listening and singing to classical Italian opera, arranging flowers, and feeding the blue jays who frequently visited her backyard, was vivacious, fiercely stubborn, and never one to complain about the many physical challenges that confronted her in the past few years. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Maria is survived by her three children - Diana DieBold (Tom), George Parisotto (Christine), and Sylvia Parisotto (Randall) - three grandchildren, Shelby DieBold, Jackie DieBold, and Sofia Parisotto - two sisters - Ida Reginato and Letizia Reginato - and many nieces and nephews. Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and by her two brothers Gianni Reginato and Federico Reginato. There will be a rosary for Maria at Welch-Ryce-Haider, 15 East Sola Street, at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1st. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 2nd, at 10:30 a.m. at San Roque Church, 325 Argonne Circle, with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care Foundation at 509 E. Montecito St., Santa Barbara, 93103, or to a charitable organization of your choice.
