R. Vernon Anderson

R. Vernon Anderson, born in Chicago on March 6, 1920, passed away in Santa Barbara on August 15, 2014 at the age of 94. Born Rudolph Vernon Anderson to Astrid (Adolphson) and Carl Oscar Rudolph Anderson, Vern was stricken with polio as a child and lost both parents before the age of 12. At age 19, Vern moved to Los Angeles, took accounting classes, and began a long career in corporate finance as chief financial officer of manufacturing companies including Coleman Engineering Co., Fisher Pen Co., Louis Roth and Co, Dashaveyor Co., and Calnetics Corp. Vern and his wife Edna were long-time residents of Los Alamitos before moving to Santa Barbara in 1999 to be near their son. Vern is survived by his wife of 66 years Edna, son Dean, and grandson Eric.
