Martha Josephine Marsango Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Martha Josephine Marsango, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2014. Martha was born on July 27, 1922 in Santa Barbara where she lived her entire life. She was preceded in death by her parents Abbondio and Maria Bazzi and her husband David. Martha's family, Bazzi, founded the Live Oak Dairy, which "Bossie" the cow still stands above the original creamery on Milpas Street and Canon Perdido. Martha graduated in 1939 from Santa Barbara High School and then continued on to Woodbury College in Los Angeles. She was an avid tennis player, bowler and golfer. Our fondest memory will be of her gathering the family around the table and teaching us the art of making the perfect gnocchi.We will miss you, Nana! Martha is survived by her twin sister, Angelina Daniels, children Ed Marsango (Sheri), Toni Maulhardt (Dean), grandchildren Stacy Irey (Ben), Deanna Romero (Sonny), Jaime Berini (Greg), Marisa Claisse (Branden), her great-grandchildren, Santino, Lorenzo, Isaac, Deegan, Makayla, Daphne, Penelope and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at San Roque Church, 3200 Calle Cedro. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 199 N. Hope Ave. A luncheon reception will be held at La Cumbre Country Club, 4015 Via Laguna St. Business attire required. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to your charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Welch-Ryce-Haider Funeral Chapels.
