Mary Margaret del Valle

Mary del Valle (Rounds), age 75, passed peacefully on Friday, May 14, 2021, in the presence of loving family. At her request we share this news along with the news of her husband, Carlos “Hap” del Valle’s passing in 2018, together again--as they were in life. Carlos Juan Enrique Miguel del Valle, born June 4, 1945 in Los Angeles, was nicknamed “Happy” by his mother, Margaret, because he was always smiling. Hap grew up in Manhattan Beach, California and went to high school at Bishop Montgomery in Torrance, California. Hap had a strong sense of humor, a passion for cards and sports--fishing, boxing, baseball, golf--and deep love for his Bride. Hap was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret, and his younger brother, Antonio Fredrico. Hap passed away January 17, 2018 after complications from Parkinson’s. Hap was survived by his wife, Mary, until recently, and is survived by his brother, Ulpiano (Pano) Francisco del Valle, daughter, Maggi Beckstrand (Jasonn), his son, Derek del Valle (Isabel) and his grandchildren: Logan, Torrey, Mathew and Frank. Mary Margaret Rounds was born December 8, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA. She grew up in Torrance, California attending St. James Elementary School and then Bishop Montgomery for High School. After studying nursing at Mercy College of Nursing she graduated in 1968 and worked as a nurse. Mary made many friends and enjoyed a great variety of recreations over her lifetime from racketball to cross stitch, growing roses and traveling by cruise to walking a marathon, but her greatest joy was Hap and the family they made together. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Vincent Rounds, her brothers Christopher and Matthew, and, her husband, Hap. Mary is survived by her sister, Ethel Slatter, her brother, Vincent Joseph Jr., and her children and grandchildren. Hap and Mary were high school sweethearts and were married December 6, 1969. Throughout their 48 years of marriage they were loving, durable companions. Together they enjoyed camping/water-skiing family trips with young children and later had the opportunity to visit many areas of the United States, including an extended Hawaiian cruise and the Hudson Bay to welcome in the year 2000. After raising their children (and their beloved pets Wimp, Pancha, Sam and Tess) in Torrance, they chose St. George, Utah in retirement for fresh air and plenty of golf. Frequent visits from their children and grandchildren--hiking the rocky terrain around St. George, enjoying the plays at Tuacahn, finding a nice spot to fish, or just enjoying a good competitive game on TV and laughing around the table, made the days bright. No services are planned, instead it is the family’s wish that love lives on in your memories and that all families may know the joy, peace and thrill of a lifetime of love.
