Maxine I. Grossmann

Passed though the gates of heaven on March 30th, 2016 due to complications following pneumonia. She was 90 years old. Maxine was born on Sept 04,1925 in Indianapolis IN. to her parents Loren and Gladys Kerr. Maxine relocated to Santa Barbara in 1933 at age 7 with her mother and attended Hope School, La Cumbre Jr. High and graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1943. She met the love of her life on a roller skating date. Arthur Grossmann was a young Marine stationed in Santa Barbara. Art and Maxine were married may 20th, 1944. Soon after the war Art returned from the south Pacific and they began their family of five children, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In her early married years Maxine was a stay at home mom and was very active in children's schools. Room mother for all children, 5 times PTA President and cub scout Den Mother. She also volunteered to coordinate her High school class reunions which she proudly administered for over 70 years After the children were out of school Maxine joined the family heating and air conditioning company, Art Grossmann and Sons . She held the position of office manager for over 40 years. All the boys in the crew loved and regarded her as their second mom. She retired the first time in 1990 with husband Art .They spent this time world traveling, motor home traveling with the Elks Caravaniers and spending time with the many many friends that always surrounded them. After Arts death in 1998 Maxine returned to family business to help son Robert. She retired a second time in 2005 and moved to Lompoc to live with her son Jeff. Maxine lived her final 2 years at the Lompoc Comprehensive Care Center where she was nominated Queen of the facility and participated in the Lompoc flower parade at age 90. Maxine loved the holidays, crafts and planning and hosting celebrations and party's for any and all occasions Maxine was proceeded in death by son Donald in 1988 and husband Art in 1998. She is survived by daughter Linda and husband Bob Mieler, son Robert and wife Lisa, son Jeffery son Richard and wife Kathleen, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren A memorial service will take place on April 8th at I pm at Welch- Ryce-Haider Funeral Chapel located at 15 E. Sola St. Santa Barbara ,Calif. Maxine will be buried at Calvary Cemetery next to her son Don and husband Art. Directly following all are welcome to celebrate Maxines life with the family.
